Rooted Banner

"Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness." Colossians 2:7

In Rooted we have two groups:   Roots (Preschool-2nd grade)  &  Shoots (3rd-6th grade).

Our hope for the year is to instill in every child an excitement for God’s Word and a deeper understanding of God’s character & love for them. While we accept this opportunity with deep conviction and joy, we believe that the discipleship process must begin at home, and be ongoing. One hour a week in God’s Word is not enough. We'd love the opportunity to partner with you to help train up your kids in Christ Jesus!

Our children are inundated with opinions, ideas and influences all day, every day. That is why we are passionate about partnering with you on this journey, giving your child more opportunities to grow in their faith and the saving knowledge of Jesus (Romans 3:21–26).

We meet on Wednesday evenings from 4:30-6:00 pm beginning October 21, 2026.

In Roots we begin our lessons in the Old Testament, Creation through Rebekah. Then we move into the New Testament from Annunciation through Jesus teaching the Lord’s Prayer.

Each year we build upon our knowledge and understanding of both the Old and New Testaments, until we have covered all major parts of God’s Word.

Our hope is that children will begin to grow their roots down into Him, and have their lives be built on Him. Then, their faith will grow strong in the truth they were taught, and they will overflow with thankfulness. Colossians 2:7

We begin our time as a whole group with worship music and sharing our memory verses for that week. We encourage the children to learn their verses each week and reward them for their efforts to hide God’s Word in their hearts (Psalm 119:11). At the beginning of the year, we ask kids to write down their questions about God, the Bible, or anything that has to do with our faith as Christians; such as “Why can't we see God?” “Did God make other planets with people on them”? We discuss their questions each week, looking in our Bibles to find what God has told us. Our desire is to create an environment where their questions are not only acceptable, but welcomed!

For the second half of the evening, children will go downstairs with their grade level teacher, enjoy a snack while discussing their Bible lesson, create something that reminds them of what they’ve learned as well as enjoy some fun activities together.

Each of our Shoots classes have a specific Bible focus for the year:

101 students (3rd Grade): The New City Catechism- The New City Catechism is a modern-day resource aimed at helping children and adults alike learn the core doctrines of the Christian faith via 52 questions and answers.

201 Students (4th Grade): How to Grow in Christ & Learning About the Bible- Introduction to the Inductive Bible Study Method in the Book of Jonah, The Divisions of the Bible, Why I Believe the Bible (Archaeology, History, Transmission, Fulfilled Prophecy in Jesus, Authentic Eye Witnesses, the Impact of the Bible).

301 Students (5th Grade): Serving Like Jesus- Inductive Bible Study of the Book of John with a service project at the end of year.

401 Students (6th Grade): How to Share and Be a Witness for Christ- A study of My Life, My Mission, My Country Project and Presentation, and Inductive Bible Study of the Book of Acts. Final Project: Writing & Sharing my Testimony.

We begin our time downstairs with our grade level teacher. We jump right into our lesson for the evening, practicing the skills of navigating our Bible, digging deeper into God’s Word & memorizing scripture (Psalm 119:11).

The second half of our time is upstairs as a whole group, starting with worship music. At the beginning of the year, we ask kids to write down their questions about God, the Bible, or anything that has to do with our faith as Christians; such as “What is the Trinity?” “Why did God create Adam and Eve if he knew they would sin”? We discuss their questions each week, looking in our Bibles to find what God has told us. Our desire is to create an environment where their questions are not only acceptable, but welcomed! We finish our time together by playing a game that ties in with our question for the night.
