What We Offer
We serve as bridge between the 12-step groups and the Church.
Overcomers Outreach is a unique lay ministry which was born at Sierra Community Church on Feb. 6, 1990. We were born out of an expressed deep need for a support system for individuals and families in Christian Churches who were wrestling with disease of alcoholism and other addictions and compulsions. Powerful, proven tools offered to combat the fear, guilt, anger, loneliness, confusion and frustration which accompany chemical dependency or compulsive behavior and their total effect upon the family unit.
Somehow, because we are Christians we think we should be permanently immune to such a “thorn in the flesh” as addiction to drugs, alcohol, pornography or other crippling compulsions. Many times God does provide total, instant deliverance but more often than not, it is a frantic struggle for those involved. Christians often faced with such challenges often work hard at covering up these issues out of shame and frustration, thus carrying the weight of these challenges alone.
James said “confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed” (James 5:16). We no longer have to wage the battle by ourselves – there is help available if we are open to receive it.
Please contact Rex to get information about meeting times and locations. You will soon find that Overcomers is not a program, but a process we work through together as a family looking to God as our guide.
