Kim Metting Van Rijn

I spent most of my early life growing up in Colorado and I became a follower of Jesus after reading CS Lewis Mere Christianity in my early 20’s. After a brief stint in the Washington DC area I moved to the Bay Area where I eventually met and married my husband Philip. After 15 years of doing life in San Francisco we retired and moved to South Lake Tahoe. Honestly, my first choice was the Northern California Coast but once we found Sierra Community Church we knew we had found our new home. I’m not particularly athletic but I do love the outdoors and especially the autumn season here. My favorite thing about Tahoe is the friends we’ve made that have become family to me, although THEY may not realize it! Phil and I often marvel, “We get to LIVE here.” I’m so grateful to God for the opportunities to serve Him, to grow in faith alongside other likeminded believers, and to witness His glory in this beautiful natural environment (i.e. bears, mountains, lakes, wildflowers, sky etc).
