I was born in 1973 in Carmel Valley, California. My family never went to church when I was young. My first experience going to Church was as a junior higher with my mom after my parents divorced. The few times I went, I remember feeling so out of place — in Sunday School I didn’t know anyone and didn’t have any idea what they were talking about.
In high school a friend invited me to go… I wasn’t really interested in church but he said the magic words, there were girls and they played basketball there! So I went. It didn’t take long before I noticed some of the other guys there had something in their lives that I didn’t. It didn’t take too many weeks of listening to the Bible to realize that I needed this Jesus that I was hearing so much about!
I went to college in Phoenix, Arizona, where I met my wife and after graduating worked in a church there for three years. I worked in Monterey, California, for ten years as a youth pastor. I was called to Sierra in November 2007. What a privilege it is to work here!
I have four young boys and a daughter. I love the outdoors and eating ice cream with my family!
