Tim Jarvis

I was born and raised in Bogota Colombia, where my parents served as missionaries. When I was 17, I moved to Florida for my senior year of highschool and ended up staying there to get my BA from Clearwater Christian College.

After college, my gaze shifted more towards the things of this earth and I started to slowly drift away from God. Before I knew it, I was living a very self-centered life and fell away from the church for close to 14 years. Fortunately, God is good and full of grace and mercy and even when my eyes were not in Him, he blessed me with my beautiful wife Bethany. We were both eager to get out of the Florida flatlands and so we set off on an extended road trip to search for a new home. As we came over Spooner Summit and caught our first glimpse of Lake Tahoe, we knew that this is where we wanted to live.

 Bethany and I both quickly fell in love with Tahoe. However, despite all of our amazing adventures, we both found it all very unfulfilling. Unbeknownst  to us, God had been softening each of our hearts and within a week of each other, He gently reminded us of our need for Him in our lives. Sierra Community was the first church we attended and we walked away every Sunday feeling so blessed (and challenged) by the teaching of God's word. It almost felt as if every message was tailor made for us. As we got plugged into Sierra and started building relationships with our new church family, Tahoe went from being just a place we lived to our home.

Both Bethany and I were brought on as staff members in 2022 to help out with the Worship Team and Audio Visual Teams respectively. I feel so blessed that I get to not only serve God in this role, but that I also get to do it alongside my wife.

Dream job as a kid? Air Force Fighter Pilot (who am I kidding it's still my dream job)
