Teaching Pastor

My Tahoe story (we all have one) is…

I came here to be a ski bum in the fall of 1977. I was twenty-two years old at the time and what began as a hedonistic journey of skiing, partying, hiking, etc., etc., all took a turn for the better in the summer of 1982 when I said “I do” to Jesus. My new life with Jesus coincided with meeting my wife, Tasma, and the birth of my two sons, Hudson and Haven, a couple of years later in 1984 and 1986. My story with Sierra also began in 1982, but it wasn’t until 1985 when I was asked to come on staff to help administrate a growing fellowship.

All of my training for ministry has occurred at Sierra. Since I was already married and having kids, it didn’t make a lot of sense to go back to school and move away from the very community I was serving in, so I grew on the job. In 1989 I was appointed as a pastor and ten years later I became one of the teaching pastors. I fancy myself as one of those New Testament guys pulled right off their fishing boat. Today you’ll find me teaching on Sundays, or mid-week, and handling the counseling duties as they arise.

The loves of my life are in the following order: Jesus Christ, my wife, my sons, coaching youth, hang time with close friends.
